Artist Statement/Bio
I am a contemporary realist oil painter working in San Diego, California.
I paint views from a distance, the calm of water, the quiet among trees, and figures in repose. My goal is to create natural, commonplace scenes that allow the viewer to remember and yearn. I often paint on long, horizontal canvases, as this allows the viewer to experience the landscape as we naturally do.
There is stillness, space, and distance in these subjects that pushes back against the rush and bustle of our stressful lives.
I was born and raised in San Diego, California, attended the University of California, Santa Barbara (BS) and the University of San Diego (Teaching Credential). I have studied art at Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, California and at the Athenaeum Art Center in San Diego.
